pLayday: 2/19 – Burnout Paradise

burnout-paradise-boxart-wallpaper-big

With a dirt cheap price and new content on the way, Burnout Paradise is an easy recommendation to pick up for pLayday.  New copies can be had for $20, though are difficult to find due to it selling out at most retail stores.

There is a very large patch (a bit over a gig) called the 1.6 patch that is needed to play online.  Be sure to put your disc in nice and early right after work so that this evening your system is up to date before 9pm.

PuzzleQuest for the iPhone soon complete and now cheaper

puzzle_quest_360

PuzzleQuest for the iPhone launched for $10 and promised to be the first of 3 chapters.  It was the first half of the initial release of PuzzleQuest, followed by the second half, and then the console-only Expansion.  Each to be priced.

Recently, it has been announced that the second half will be a free update, as may be reflected in the name change from PuzzleQuest: Chapter 1 to PuzzleQuest.  The price has also been reduced (sale?) to $8 from $10.

There were technical issues with the initial release, and some still complain about the font, but there is now a Free demo available to test this with.

For $8, the original PuzzleQuest, on the go on my phone, will be purchased again.

Left 4 Dead Sale extended.

I intended to post about this earlier this weekend, but ended up just telling specific people.  Now that it’s extended, I guess it’s time for an overall announcement.

Left 4 Dead is one of the best multiplayer games.  It is fun with any number of players, from 2-8.  The PC version will have Mod support coming this Spring/Summer and is currently on sale for $25.

Quick Review

Since this game will probably not drop below $20 for at least a couple years, this is about as cheap as you would ever be able to get it.  If you intend to own a PC capable of playing this game in the next 1-2 years (which, should be everyone assuming a 4 year turnaround on computers running an OS that isn’t linux), then you have little reason not to pick this up.

Unless you hate fun.  Or don’t have $25.

Bloody Valentines

mybloodyvalentine2

Bloody Valentine is pitched as the perfect date movie because nothing says romance like extreme gore and violence.

In light of the recent Valentine’s Day, here is a list of games that are perfect date games.

gta-4-push

-Grand Theft Auto

Because nothing says “I love you” like running over an old lady with an car, getting out, and beating her fallen body with a bat until money pops out.  It shows that in desperate times, you’ll do whatever it takes to provide for you family; even if your family is composed entirely of middle-aged, hairy, Italian men.

Cat controls time

I love time control mechanics.  In this game, time only moves when you do, but the food will still degrade, so you have to be quick.  Go play Time 4 Cat.

Get Hyped for: Trine

I think it’s the  music that has the most impact for me.  Sure, the game has gorgeous 2d platforming, looks to have interesting, unique mechanics for the multiple classes that you can switch between on the fly, and looks like a blast to play, but I think the music really helps set the pace.

Get hyped.

I finally watched: Slumdog Millionaire

slumdog-toilet

Slumdog Millionaire is an easy movie to recommend.  It has a story that everyone can enjoy: a slumdog (very poor kid from the slums) of India gets on to the Indian version of Who wants to be a Millionaire.  Despite coming from a very uneducated background, he knows many answers.  The movie shows his life and how his experiences formed the answers he gives, giving him a chance at a new life.
